If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying too much for too long, therapy can be a place to finally exhale—and begin making sense of what you’re going through. At Marrin Therapy Works, I provide individual and couples therapy for adults in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, grounded in compassion, confidentiality, and practical, evidence-based care.
A therapist with deep training—and real-world clinical experience
I’m Elizabeth Marrin (Ed.M., M.S., LMHC, LPC), a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts. I hold two graduate degrees—an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University and an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from UMass Boston—and I bring 16 years of diverse clinical experience supporting people through some of life’s most challenging seasons.
Over the years, I’ve worked across outpatient therapy, community mental health, crisis-focused settings, and multidisciplinary systems of care. That breadth matters—because life doesn’t fit neatly into categories, and neither do people.
What I help clients work through
Many of the people I work with are navigating one (or several) of the following:
Trauma and its aftereffects (including complex trauma)
Anxiety, depression, and mood-related concerns
Substance use and recovery (including harm reduction and relapse prevention)
Life transitions, identity shifts, and relationship stress
Grief, loss, and major change
Emotional overwhelm, burnout, and difficulty coping day-to-day
Whether you’re in a moment of crisis or simply tired of feeling like you’re ‘just getting by,’ therapy can help you build steadier ground.
My approach: tailored, collaborative, and skills-based
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. My style is client-centered and collaborative, and I tailor treatment to your goals, needs, and readiness for change. Depending on what’s most helpful for you, I may draw from:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness-based approaches
Narrative and relational therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Positive psychology, existential therapy, and grief-focused work
In practical terms, that can look like learning grounding skills for anxiety, building emotional regulation tools, strengthening communication patterns, processing painful experiences safely, and creating a plan that supports real, sustainable change.
A safe space—especially when life feels complicated
My clinical background includes extensive work with complex trauma, severe mental illness, and substance use disorders. I’m comfortable holding the hard stuff with you—without judgment, without rushing, and without reducing you to a diagnosis.
You can expect a therapy space that is confidential and professional, warm and compassionate (and direct when needed), focused on both insight and actionable tools, and respectful of your pace and lived experience.
Ready to take the next step?
If you’re looking for therapy that is grounded in evidence-based practice and delivered with genuine care, I’d be honored to support you.
